Our History
In the Fall of 2012, two fellowships met in Marion, IL. Each one operated totally independent of one another. Each one prayerfully sought to glorify God by themselves. Each one needed the support and strength of other believers and leaders in the faith to shore up the vision that laid before them. In the early winter of 2012, the pastors of Parish Park Baptist Church and Cross Cultures Community Church prayerfully sought after an opportunity that laid before them...a "partnership" between two completely autonomous fellowships.
Through a lot of prayer, humble, submissive hearts and the Spirit of God, these two fellowships began meeting together at the Parish Park Baptist Church building in January 2013. As prayer continued, God rapidly revealed His plan for these two fellowships to join together as one new group under a new strategy and new mission. The goal of the groups during this time was consistently to prevent this being about man, but instead remain totally glorifying of the One True God who brought them together.
On May 1, 2013, after months of meetings and formalities, The Cross Community Church was born. Two became one through the message of the cross with the mission of loving, sharing with and serving the people of Southern Illinois. God has been so good throughout the process and continues to bless us with His sweet presence, His saving works and wonderful times of corporate worship.
All glory and praise be to God for His work in our hearts.
